The Boerne Education Foundation recently hosted their 10th annual Rock on Gala. Jennings Anderson Ford was proud to contribute to this community initiative by providing gala T-shirts for the estimated 700 attendees. The event’s live auction was hosted by local NBC affiliate WOAI news anchor Leslie Bohl Jones, who also spoke about the mission of the foundation on her WOAI Living Show the following Monday. Jennings Anderson Ford would like to extend a hearty thanks to everyone involved in the success of this event and a special thanks to Boerne Blooms who provided a fantastic array of floral centerpieces for the dinner.

In the April Consumer Reports issue, the Ford Fusion was listed as one of the “most impressive” cars on the market in the Best and Worst section. The article was based on Consumer Reports’ testing and owner surveys, in which the vehicle was quoted as a reliable ride. “We were unexpectedly impressed with their nimble handling and comfortable ride, which make them feel more like expensive European cars.” For more information on the Ford Fusion visit our website.

Jennings Anderson Ford recently hosted their 4th annual employee chili cook-off. This was their first year to have guest judges grade six employees’ chilis. Guest judges included Sheriff Roger Duncan, Deputy Sheriff Matt King and Gordan Brademan. The first place winner of the contest was Make Ready Manager Joey Matamoros, who received four tickets and a parking pass to a Spurs game. The two runners-up Bobby Cuellar and Todd Dunford, both received gift certificates to area restaurants.

Before you hit the road this summer for vacation, here are a few good tips for avoiding major headaches down the road.

Tires — Typically, passenger car tires have a life rating of about 60,000 miles of normal wear and tear. Tires receive mileage ratings because they can actually start to break down internally at that mileage without showing any external signs. We see many cases where a tire blows out, but the tread is still good.

Battery — Many people are good about having their battery checked in the winter, but fail to do so in the summer. We actually see more battery failures during the extreme heat than in the cold.

Belts and Hoses — This is another, often neglected, system that can leave you stranded on the road. Typically, belts and hoses should be replaced around 100,000 miles. There is a good chance that they will last longer than that, but it is hard to be sure. They can also deteriorate from the inside and not show any signs of a problem until it’s too late.
